HOW TO REDUCE DENTAL DECAY

Dental decay and consequently fillings, are not inevitable!

If you have a high rate of dental decay, The Dental Practice would recommend the following:

  • Brush twice a day with a toothbrush containing fluoride and triclosan; an anti-bacterial agent,
  • Reduce the frequency of your sugar intake,
  • Reduce the frequency of your fizzy/diet drink intake.
  • Attend for regular dental check-ups and dental hygienist visits; at least every six months.

The Dental Practice will assist you by:

  • Assessing your dental decay risk based on past and present decay,
  • Treating your existing decay painlessly,
  • Investigating your diet,
  • Giving you dietary and cleaning (oral hygiene) advice,
  • Applying topical fluoride where appropriate,
  • Coating unfilled teeth with fissure sealant,
  • Planning further check-ups and X-rays at appropriate intervals based on your dental decay risk.
