CROSS INFECTION CONTROL

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure all our patients, their families and friends and all our prospective patients that at The Dental Practice every precaution is always taken to ensure their total safety and the safety of all who work here from the risks of cross-infection.

All the recommendations of the British Dental Association (BDA), the General Dental Council (GDC), the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FGDP) at the Royal College of Surgeons and the Department of Health (DoH) are strictly adhered to.

The Dental Practice has a very modern purpose-built Central Sterilisation Room (CSR) which is fully staffed & equipped just as in a General Hospital.

We use a combination of methods which together are designed to give 100% protection. All metal instruments and hand pieces are sterilised by Autoclave (high pressure steam) as used in all hospitals.

Needles & disposable items are supplied ready sterilised in sealed packs and are never re-used. Cups, hand-towels, impression trays etc. are made from plastic or paper & are thrown away after one use only. During all treatments we all wear gloves which are discarded after each patient.

It is the policy of The Dental Practice to always use disposable items; so we can envisage a time when all the items used in your treatment are thrown away after a single use only
